Honestly so fed up with my current kit lens, it just cant get the look I want for portraits and im about to lose my mind. I try to shoot my sisters wedding next month in Seattle and the shots just feel so flat and boring, like there is no character at all. I want that creamy, buttery background blur but everything I take looks like it came off a cheap phone camera. Ive been scouring reviews for ages and im just going in circles now.
Im looking for something that actually makes my X-T4 pop. Here is what I need:
- Budget is strictly around 500-700 bucks since I blew my savings on the body
- Needs to be decent in low light because wedding venues are always dark as a cave
- Sharpness is a must, obviously, but I want character, not clinical boredom
- Autofocus cant be garbage since I need to catch candid moments
Is the Viltrox 75mm any good or should I just save up for the Fuji 56mm f1.2? Im just so tired of being disappointed every time I import my photos... anyone have a lens they actually love for portraits that wont make me go broke?
> Is the Viltrox 75mm any good or should I just save up for the Fuji 56mm f1.2? Honestly, grab the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 AF XF. It has serious character and kills in low light for way cheaper than the Fuji.
Quick tip: are you shooting full body or headshots? Be careful, because the Fujifilm XF 50mm f2 WR is super reliable, whereas the Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN offers better light.
I feel your pain, kit lenses are the worst for portraits. Honestly, skip the Viltrox if you want that creamy look. I used the Fujifilm XF 56mm f1.2 R for years and it is pure magic. It is a bit pricey, but you can find it used easily.
- Incredible bokeh
- Handles dark venues perfectly
- Way more character than clinical glass Trust me, it makes such a huge difference for wedding work.
