So I finally picked up a Sony A7IV and I am totally overwhelmed by the lens choices. I honestly just want one solid lens that I can keep glued to the camera for travel and maybe some street stuff when I visit my sister in Chicago next month. My budget is probably around 1000 bucks give or take.
I have been doing some research and I keep seeing people swear by the Sony 24-105mm G, but then other forums say it is way too bulky and I should just get the 35mm f/1.8 prime for the weight savings. I am so confused though because I do not want to be swapping lenses constantly while walking around downtown, but I also dont want to lug a giant piece of glass all day if I dont have to. Does anyone have experience with the Tamron 28-75mm G2 instead? I read a couple threads saying its sharper than the Sony but I am worried about the build quality feeling cheap compared to the native glass. Honestly just need someone to tell me which one is actually going to be the most versatile without making my neck hurt after an hour of shooting...
Honestly, just snag a standard zoom from Tamron or Sigma and you will be set. They are way lighter than the native stuff and honestly plenty sharp for street work. I carried one all over Chicago and my neck was totally fine. You get that versatility without the bulk, so just grab one of those and save your money for some good food while you are out there.
