Ugh I am so over looking at reviews on YouTube for the last three days straight its literally driving me insane. I just bought an a7iv for my cousins wedding in like two weeks and I still dont have a proper prime lens because I keep second guessing myself. I have about 700 bucks left in my budget and I really need one lens that stays on the camera for 90% of the day.
I am torn between these options:
- Sony 35mm f1.8 (the native FE one)
- Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG DN Art
- Sony 55mm f1.8 Zeiss
The Sigma looks amazing but its so chunky and I dont want my wrist to fall off after four hours of shooting people. But then the Sony 35mm f1.8 seems kinda boring for the price? Like am I just paying for the name? The Zeiss 55mm is also tempting because of the size and that contrast but is 55mm way too tight for indoor shots at a reception when things get crowded? I am mostly doing candid shots and some casual portraits. I need something fast enough for low light but I cant spend a penny over $750. Honestly just want to know which one is the actual staple I will actually use for the next five years. My head is spinning and I just need to click buy already so I can practice before the event.
> is 55mm way too tight Yeah, dont go 55mm. Youll be backing into walls all night. A 35mm is way more versatile for crowded receptions and lets you actually capture the scene.
