Maciej Latałło has just posted a detailed review of the new announced Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.4E ED Lens (Amazon/B&H/ Adorama) at the LensTip.com.
Verdict from LensTip, ” After the excellent Nikkor AF-S 105 mm f/1.4E ED you get the Nikkor AF-S 28 mm f/1.4E ED which is almost as good; during our test it proved that it is able to compete on equal terms with the Otus 1.4/28, an instrument not only physically bigger but also much more expensive; apart from that the new Nikkor prevailed over the slower AF-S 28 mm f/1.8G model in practically all testing categories…”
Pros:
- Solid casing,
- Sensational image quality in the frame centre,
- Very good image quality on the edge of APS-C/DX sensor,
- Sensible image quality on the edge of full frame,
- Negligible lateral chromatic aberration,
- Imperceptible spherical aberration,
- Lack of distortion problems,
- Moderate astigmatism,
- Not especially bothersome vignetting for APS-C/DX,
- Good performance against bright light,
- Silent and accurate autofocus.
