John Riley has just posted a full review of the newly announced Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS lens (Amazon/ B&H/ Adorama) at the ephotozine.com. He tested this new lens on Olympus E-M1 Mark III, and found such Pros: Very good sharpness, Low CA and distortion, Virtually no flare, Weather resistance, Very close focusing, Blisteringly fast AF, Lovely bokeh, Effective Image Stabilisation, Low vignetting, Excellent price, Supports Image Stacking and Tripod mounting collar. This new lens costs $1,499, first available for pre-order at Amazon/ B&H/ Adorama.
Below is the verdict “For those who are already using the Olympus system this could just be the wildlife lens you have been waiting for – I personally would not hesitate. Those who are looking to lighten their load may well be tempted also as similar lenses for DSLR are generally much heavier and bulkier.Olympus have re-asserted themselves in the marketplace with a very strong offering indeed and their splendid new Olympus M.Zuiko ED 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS lens is Highly Recommended…”
Below are some sample images. You can see how it performs.
