Ive been shooting with my 90D for a while now but I feel like my 18-135mm kit lens is finally holding back that 32.5MP sensor. Im shooting a cousins outdoor wedding in October and really need one solid walk-around lens.
My logic was to grab the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 because the glass is incredible but the zoom range is honestly pretty limited for general use. Then I looked at the Canon 17-55mm 2.8 which has IS but its such an old design. Is the autofocus on that thing still snappy enough for the 90Ds dual pixel system? My budget is $750 and I dont know if I should prioritize that 1.8 aperture or the extra reach...
If you're doing a wedding, you really need that extra reach and stabilization. The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM might be an old design, but its still the most practical choice for a 90D.
- AF speed is still great for dual pixel
- Constant f/2.8 is fast enough for outdoor bokeh
- Stabilization helps with handheld shots The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art is sharp, but 35mm is way too short for a wedding. Canon wins on versatility.
