What's the absolute best all-around lens for the R5 that doesn't weigh a literal ton because I'm losing my mind trying to pack for this Patagonia trip? I've been shooting Canon for over a decade, transitioned from the 5D Mark IV a while back and I thought I knew the RF lineup but honestly I'm struggling. I currently have the 24-70mm f/2.8L and while the glass is incredible, carrying that thing on an 8-mile hike is killing my shoulder and I find myself missing shots because I'm too annoyed to pull it out of the bag.
I looked at the 24-105mm f/4 but I'm worried about the low light performance when we get into the woods or for evening shots around the camp. Is the 28-70mm f/2 just gonna be even worse for weight? I've got a budget of around $2500 but I need something that can handle landscapes and some environmental portraits without me needing a chiropractor the next day. Maybe I'm overthinking the f/4 vs f/2.8 thing with the R5's sensor being so good but I don't want to compromise on that 45MP sharpness. What are you guys actually keeping on your body most of the time? I leave in three weeks and I'm still staring at my gear shelf totally undecided...
