Has anyone actually found a decent deal on the R6 Mark II lately that isnt a total scam? Ive been scouring the internet for like three weeks now because my cousins wedding is coming up in June and I really need to upgrade from my ancient T7i before then but man the prices are just all over the place. My budget is strictly under $2200 because I still need to grab a lens and some extra batteries and I honestly thought there would be better sales by now since its been out a while.

I saw this one listing on eBay for like $1850 which sounds amazing but then I read somewhere that those are grey market and Canon wont even touch them if they break which scares the crap out of me. Then I looked at the refurbished section on the official Canon site and they are always out of stock every single time I check its like you have to be a ninja to get one. B&H has it for the full $2499 price and I just cant justify that right now with my current savings.

Is there some secret coupon code or a specific site that isnt sketchy? Im getting so frustrated looking at these deals that turn out to be just the body plus a bunch of cheap plastic tripods and SD cards I dont need. Should I just wait for some holiday sale or is that gonna be too late? I'm honestly about to just give up and stick with my old crop sensor even though I know the low light is gonna suck at the reception...

man i totally feel your frustration. honestly looking for deals on the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body lately has been a huge letdown... i really expected prices to drop by now but canon is being super stubborn. if youre strictly under $2200 you might have to look at other options tho. i used the original Canon EOS R6 20.1MP Mirrorless Camera for two years and honestly it still holds up great for weddings even with the lower megapixel count. its way better than the Canon EOS R8 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera which is cheaper but honestly feels like a toy because of the single card slot and tiny battery. i had issues with the R8 battery dying way too fast during a ceremony once so i wouldnt recommend it for a wedding. definitely keep stalking the official canon refurb shop... its a pain but its the only way to get a real warranty. dont give up yet!

Honestly, I went through this same headache last month trying to snag a backup. I missed those refurbished drops three times in a row, basically stayed up all night for nothing... it was a total waste of time. Since you have that T7i, call Canon and ask about their Loyalty Program. I got a discount just by giving them my old serial number.

To add to the point above: I grabbed the Canon EOS R6 Mark II last year and im super satisfied with how it handles. The eye tracking is just... wow.

  • Are you open to buying used from a reputable shop like KEH or MPB?
  • Do you definitely need the Mark II features, or would the original Canon EOS R6 do the trick? Wedding receptions can be tough tho...

@Reply #2 - good point! honestly its ridiculous how the market is right now. looking at the bus speeds and the thermal throttling thresholds on the Canon EOS R6 Mark II compared to the older gear, the performance is there but the actual longevity of these units scares me. last year i tried to do a teardown on a similar chassis to fix a sticky dial and man... everything is so tightly integrated now. you basically cant fix anything yourself anymore without specialized jigs and proprietary software. its such a scam that we pay over two grand for a body that feels like a disposable smartphone. just make sure you are being super careful with those ebay listings too. a buddy once bought what he thought was a new body from a high-rated seller and the shutter count was already at 40k when he checked the internal logs. it drives me crazy that canon keeps the prices this high while the build quality feels like its going downhill. honestly makes me want to just stick with my old mechanical gear where the internals actually made sense... its just a total headache.
