So I am totally over my bulky DSLR its just way too slow for street shots now so I was thinking about finally going mirrorless for my NYC trip next month since Black Friday is coming up. My budget is 1k but honestly I am so lost looking at these bundles... has anyone seen any actual good deals yet?

@Reply #1 - good point! Bundles are usually trash.

Found this thread a bit late but honestly, the others are spot on about those bundles. Its so disappointing how retailers just cram in a cheap plastic tripod and a slow SD card to make a deal look better than it actually is. Unfortunately, most of the genuine Black Friday doorbusters arent even that great for street photography anymore. They usually just discount the entry-level stuff thatll leave you frustrated in six months once you realize the autofocus is laggy. If youre hitting NYC, you need something that wont hunt for focus in shadows. I had issues with some of the cheaper kits in the past, so if you can find a sale, the Nikon Z 5 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 24-50mm Lens is a solid entry into full-frame for right around your price point. Its a bit bigger than the Fuji but the low light performance is way better. Another sleeper pick is the Panasonic LUMIX S5 Mirrorless Camera Body if you can find a body-only deal on clearance. Quick tip: skip the kit bag and buy a dedicated wrist strap. Also, dont get suckered into buying a massive bundle just for the extra value. Just grab the body and one decent lens, then spend the rest of your cash on a really fast SD card like the SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card. Nothing kills the vibe more than your camera buffering while you are trying to catch a candid shot in Times Square... let me know if you need more help narrowing it down.

Look for the Sony Alpha a6400 24.2MP Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens instead. Its super snappy for street photography. That one usually drops under 900 for Black Friday. Also check the Fujifilm X-T30 II 26.1MP Mirrorless Camera if you want those nice film colors without editing for your NYC trip.

Regarding what #4 said about "Facts." - honestly, preach!! Been thinking about your dilemma and everyone here is totally right that those massive bundles are just a way for stores to get rid of junk. Basically the thread consensus is: avoid the fluff, buy a solid body and kit lens combo, and ignore those cheap tripods. I am obsessed with the Canon EOS R50 with RF-S 18-45mm Lens right now! Its so much lighter than your old DSLR and the autofocus is amazing for catching fast street shots. If you compare it to the Sony models, the Canon menu is way easier for a beginner to navigate. Another killer option is the Panasonic LUMIX G95 with 12-60mm Lens. Its weather-sealed, so if it rains during your NYC trip, you're still good to go! Definitely check those two out before the sales end!
