Does anyone know if there are actually student discounts for the Canon mirrorless cameras because I am really trying to find a deal? I just started a photography elective for my graphic design major and my teacher said I need a real camera not just my phone and he mentioned mirrorless ones are better now but honestly they are all so expensive and it is making me a bit stressed lol. I have been looking at the Canon R50 or maybe the R10 if I can stretch it but my budget is strictly under $700 since I still have to buy books for the semester.

I searched the Canon website but it is kind of confusing and I am not sure if I have to go through a specific store or use my student ID somewhere special like a certain website? Im at a community college in Oregon and I really need to get this sorted by the end of next month before the first big project is due. Sorry if this is a super basic thing to ask but I literally have never bought a camera before and I dont want to waste money if I could get like 10 percent off or something somewhere. Do you guys know if Best Buy does this or if I have to buy directly from Canon to get a discount? I also saw some stuff about refurbished but I dont really know if those are broken or what...

> I have been looking at the Canon R50 or maybe the R10 if I can stretch it but my budget is strictly under $700 Canon actually has a dedicated student portal called the Canon Education Store. You just sign up with your .edu email to see the pricing. Honestly tho, for a $700 budget, you should look at the official Canon Refurbished site. I have been very satisfied with my gear from there and no complaints so far. They arent broken at all; they basically look brand new and come with a full one-year warranty. I checked recently and the Canon EOS R50 with RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens fits your budget easily. It has a great 24.2MP sensor and 651 AF points which works well for beginner photography. If you wait for a sale, you might snag the Canon EOS R10 with RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens which adds a joystick and better burst rates. It is definitely the most professional way to save money without compromising on the hardware specs.
