I finally caved and bought a Fujifilm X-T5 because everyone said it was amazing for travel photography but now I am staring at it and realizing I have no idea what glass to buy. I am going to Japan in about two months and I really want to take some cool photos of the streets in Osaka and maybe some food shots but I dont want to carry a bunch of different lenses around with me because I know I will just get confused and probably drop something.

My budget is around 900 bucks give or take and I just want one lens that can do a bit of everything like zooming in for stuff far away but also wide enough for buildings. I saw some people talking about the 18-55mm and then others saying the 16-80mm is better for weather sealing which sounds important if it rains while I am over there but then there is a 16-55 that is super expensive? Honestly I am just totally lost with all these numbers and letters. Is there just one lens that is like the gold standard for someone who doesnt want to swap lenses every five minutes?

Congrats on the X-T5, its a beast! You definitely want the Fujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR for your trip. This lens is fantastic because the weather sealing gives you that extra peace of mind when it rains in Osaka. I love it because its super reliable and covers a huge range. Quick tip: always keep a clear filter on it to protect the glass from dust and scratches!
