I need to know which prime lens is actually going to work for my X-S20 for street photography because I am honestly losing my mind with what I have right now. Ive been trying to use the 18-55mm kit lens for a few months now but it is just so bulky and slow to focus when I am out in the city. I missed like five great shots yesterday in downtown Chicago because the lens just kept hunting for focus and honestly im just fed up with it. It feels like im carrying a brick around and people notice me immediately which kills the whole candid vibe im going for.
I have about 600 bucks to spend and I need to get this sorted before my trip to NYC next month. I was looking at the 23mm f2 because its small but then people say the 35mm f2 has better character and I dont even know anymore. I just want something fast, tiny, and sharp that doesnt make me look like a tourist. Is the 27mm pancake worth it or is the autofocus gonna be just as loud and annoying as my old lenses? I really need something that just works without me having to fight the gear every single time i press the shutter...
Oh man, I totally feel your pain! Honestly, you should just stick with the official Fujifilm compact primes. They are absolutely amazing and so reliable for street work! I love how they just snap onto focus every single time without any drama. Just grab any of the small ones from Fuji and you will be golden for NYC. They are such safe bets and wont let you down like that kit lens did!
