I finally pulled the trigger on the X-H2 because I'm heading to the Scottish Highlands in about three weeks and I really wanted that 40MP resolution for the big landscape prints I want to make. But now I'm honestly panicking a bit about which glass to put on it. I spent a ton of time reading forums and I keep seeing people say that the older lenses just cant keep up with the new sensor and that the images look soft at the edges which is basically the worst thing for landscapes.
Heres what I looked at so far:
- XF 10-24mm f4 R WR (the zoom is nice but people say its soft on high res sensors?)
- XF 14mm f2.8 (sharp but no weather sealing)
I dont want to buy the 10-24 if it's gonna look blurry on this body but then I looked at the 14mm and it doesnt have weather sealing and knowing my luck itll be pouring rain the whole time I'm in Glencoe so that feels like a huge risk for such an expensive trip. My budget is capped at like 900 bucks so I cant really go for the 8-16mm red badge zoom even though I'm sure it's great. Is there a specific wide angle that actually stays sharp across the whole frame for the X-H2 or am I just overthinking this whole thing?
In my experience, the Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR is your most logical choice. Over the years, I have found that stopping down to f/8 resolves plenty of detail for big prints, even on that 40MP sensor. You just cant compromise on weather sealing in the Highlands. Since it is officially on Fujis high-res compatibility list, it is a solid, practical way to stay under your budget.
