im so over my cheap 50mm because it keeps hunting for focus during my studio sessions and the bokeh looks like trash. i have a big shoot in two weeks and i need something actually professional for my client work. budget is around 1200 bucks. whats the absolute best f-mount glass for portraits out there?

In my experience, you really cant go wrong with a high-end 85mm prime for studio sessions. Ive tried many setups over the years, and for reliability and that creamier bokeh you need, these are the safest bets for professional work:
- Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G
- Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art for Nikon F Both are workhorses that wont hunt like your current glass. Let me know if you need more help with specs.
