Finally bit the bullet and grabbed the R5 Mark II after shooting on my 5D Mark IV forever but man I'm kinda freaking out about the glass. I've got three weeks until a big wedding in Tulum and I'm realizing my old EF 24-70 might not cut it with that 45MP sensor and the new AF system. I already blew my budget on the body so I can only grab one RF zoom right now but I need it to handle everything from the ceremony to the reception.

Is the 24-105 f4 L actually sharp enough for this resolution or am I gonna regret not getting the 24-70 2.8? What is the best all-around zoom for this thing if I can only pick one...

Man, first off, congrats on the R5 II upgrade. I made the jump from the 5D series a while back and honestly, I havent looked back once. I have been shooting the high res bodies for years now and if youre doing a high-stakes wedding in Tulum, you really gotta go with the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. I have been super satisfied with it as my main workhorse. It holds up perfectly to that 45MP sensor and the edge-to-edge sharpness is just on another level compared to the EF days. The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a solid lens for travel, no complaints there, but for a wedding? Youre gonna want that f/2.8 when the reception starts and the lighting gets moody. That extra stop of light makes a massive difference for the AF to grab focus instantly in the dark. Quick tip since you are new to the RF system: definitely map that lens control ring to your ISO. It lets you react so much faster when moving between the bright Mexican sun and the shade of a palapa. Also, make sure you have got some fast cards because those R5 II files are huge. You will be stoked with the results though, the colors and detail are just gorgeous. Have a blast in Mexico, youll kill it.
