I've been shooting on my old D750 for like seven years now and it's finally starting to show its age with the shutter count getting up there and some weird sensor spots I cant seem to clean off anymore. I'm trying to make the jump to mirrorless finally but man the prices are all over the place this year it feels like everything is more expensive than it was last summer even with the holiday stuff coming up. I'm specifically looking for a Sony A7IV or maybe the A7C II because I need that better real-time tracking autofocus for some weddings I have booked in the spring. I've got about $2,300 saved up and I'm based in Portland so I'm trying to avoid shipping if I can but online is probably where the real discounts are. Usually I check B&H or Adorama but I've noticed some weird authorized dealer sites popping up with prices that look way too good to be true and I really dont want to get scammed with a grey market unit that has zero warranty support.
My main criteria are:
- full frame sensor with decent IBIS
- dual card slots is a must for the wedding work
- needs to be under that 2.5k mark with a kit lens if possible
Is there a specific tracker or a certain time of night people are checking for the real doorbusters these days because the usual suspects seem kind of stale right now and I'm worried if I wait until the actual Friday everything will be backordered until 2025. Where are you guys seeing the actual deep discounts on mirrorless bodies this year?
The current landscape for Black Friday is unfortunately pretty disappointing compared to how it used to be. Most deals I'm seeing are just standard rebates that have been running for weeks, and the deeper discounts usually involve older stock. If you're set on the wedding path, please reconsider the Sony Alpha 7C II Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera tho because it only has a single card slot. I've seen enough card failures over the years to know that dual slots are non-negotiable for professional gigs, seriously. My quick tip is to watch the Open Box sections at local shops like Pro Photo Supply or even the bigger online retailers. You can often snag the Sony Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Camera for well under your budget that way. Honestly, the real doorbusters don't really exist anymore... it's mostly just inventory clearing at this point.
