So what is the actual best all-around prime lens for the X-T5 right now? I've been shooting with Fuji since the X-T1 days and I basically lived on the old 35mm f1.4 but honestly it's struggling a bit with the new 40mp sensor. Everything looks a bit soft when I crop in. I'm heading to Tokyo in three weeks and need one lens that can stay on the camera for 90% of the trip. I've got about 800 bucks to spend. Is the 23mm f2 too wide or should I just bite the bullet on the new 33mm f1.4 LM WR? I keep hearing mixed things about the 18mm too but that might be too wide for portraits... just feeling stuck between the old favorites and the new high-res glass.
I think you might want to be careful with those older f2 lenses on that 40mp sensor. Not sure but IIRC a buddy of mine said his travel shots looked kinda mushy when he cropped in, tbh.
- I would suggest biting the bullet on the newer 1.4 glass.
- Make sure to prioritize the linear motor versions to handle that resolution.
