Ive been shooting on my A7III for about four years now and usually Im a 35mm or 50mm prime guy but I just booked this last-minute trip to Zion for the end of the month and I realized my old manual focus Rokinon has developed some weird internal haze or fungus its basically unusable now. Im kind of panicking because I leave in two weeks and I really dont have the cash for a G-Master or even the Sony 20mm 1.8 right now after paying for the flights and the lodge.

I need something wide for those canyon shots but Im looking at a hard limit of like $450 maybe $550 if I stretch it and Im seeing so many conflicting reviews on the cheaper stuff like the Tamron primes or the newer Samyang AF glass. Im worried about the autofocus being too slow on the third party stuff or getting a soft copy since I dont have time to send it back before the trip. Are those f/2.8 Tamron primes actually any good for landscapes or is the distortion too much to fix in post? Or should I just look for a used Viltrox 16mm or something? I really need something reliable that wont break the bank but still gives me decent corner sharpness for those big vistas and I just dont know which way to go...

I grabbed the Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 for a Glacier trip last year when I was broke. Honestly it is sharp enough for landscapes and the distortion is easy to fix in post. The AF is noisy but for Zion vistas you wont even notice it... it just works. Its a decent budget choice for the A7III.
