What is the best all-around zoom lens for Sony mirrorless cameras?

Ive been a Sony shooter for years and usually swear by my primes for the sharpness but I just booked a three week trip to Tokyo and realized I really dont want to be swapping glass on the subway. I need a single zoom that can actually keep up with the sensor resolution on my A7R without weighing ten pounds. Kinda torn between the 24-105 G for the range or just biting the bullet on the 24-70 GM II despite the cost. Is there a sleeper pick I should look at instead for a one-lens setup?

I've tested it against my primes and at 546g, it is basically a miracle of engineering. But for Tokyo? You really gotta look at the Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G. Most people overlook it because it is an f/4, but those extra 4mm on the wide end are absolute gold for Shinjuku streets and tight shrines. In my experience, the corner sharpness is surprisingly close to the GM series. It is basically the ultimate travel lens if you dont mind bumping the ISO a bit at night. If you really want f/2.8 though, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art is the one to get. Still, that 20mm start on the Sony is the real sleeper move...
