So I finally made the jump to the R5 last year after shooting with the 5D Mark IV for ages and I love the sensor but man the lens situation for travel is driving me nuts. I have the 24-70 2.8 but it weighs a ton after walking 10 miles and the 24-105 f4 is okay I guess but it feels a bit uninspired for what the R5 can actually do? I am planning this massive 3 week trip to Kyoto and Tokyo next month and I really want to stick to just one lens if I can because I am sick of swapping glass in the wind and getting dust on the sensor which is a nightmare to clean on these things.
Here is what I am looking for:
- Needs to be sharp enough to actually use the 45mp sensor otherwise why bother
- Budget is around 2k maybe 2.5k if it is really worth it
- Must have decent weather sealing because it rains a lot in Japan in June
- Not a total brick I already have neck issues
I was looking at the 24-240 but it feels weird putting a non-L lens on such an expensive body but then the 28-70 f2 is just way too big for a backpack. Is there something I am missing or am I just stuck with the 24-105 f4? I just want one lens that can do it all without making me regret the purchase halfway through the trip...
