honestly im just fed up with my current kit. been using the 24-70 f2.8 on my r6 and its just way too heavy. my neck is literally killing me and i have a huge trip to italy coming up in three weeks—actually it is 19 days away—so i need to fix this fast. i want one lens that stays on the camera so i dont have to keep swapping or lugging a massive gear bag around rome.
- needs to be lightweight
- budget around 1100 max
- sharp enough for street and landscape
should i just get the 24-105 f4 or is there something better? im also considering the non-l version but idk if the quality drop is gonna drive me crazy...
Building on the earlier suggestion, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the safest path. It is lighter than your 24-70, but honestly, make sure to check the weight specs first because it might not be the massive relief you're looking for. I would suggest looking at the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM if weight is priority, but be careful with that aperture range in dim light... it can get noisy.
> im also considering the non-l version but idk if the quality drop is gonna drive me crazy... ^ This. Also, you might want to consider the Canon RF 24-105mm f4-7.1 IS STM. Be careful tho, the aperture drops off fast which can be tricky for evening shots in Rome. Its way lighter on the neck than the L version, but just make sure you can live with the slower glass before you pull the trigger.
> should i just get the 24-105 f4 or is there something better? Im very satisfied with my Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM. Its a reliable, safe choice that works well for travel. The constant aperture is key for consistent results.
