Ive been on L-mount since the S1 launch but Im hitting a wall picking a one-and-done zoom. My logic was the Sigma 24-70 Art for the f2.8 but its way too heavy for my Seattle street trip next month. Budget is around 1200 so maybe the 24-105 f4? Is the OIS worth losing the stop for an all-arounder...
In my experience, hauling the Sigma Art all day is basically a gym session you didnt sign up for. Since you are hitting Seattle where it is usually overcast, that extra stop of light is nice, but the Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 Macro O.I.S. is honestly the better travel companion. Over the years I have tried many L-mount setups and the O.I.S. on that lens is legit magic... you can basically handhold shots at half a second without blur. Plus, the reach to 105mm is way more useful for street details than you might think. If you really want to keep the f2.8 speed tho, check out the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary. It is way lighter than the Art version and fits your budget perfectly. It misses 24mm at the wide end, but for a light setup it is hard to beat. I would still lean toward the 24-105 for the sheer versatility tho.
