From wide-angle prime lens, I recommended the NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have tried many setups over the years and the Z8 is a beast, but it can be a bit picky. In my experience, when you move to a body with this much resolution, your older glass might not cut it anymore.

• Adapting older lenses via FTZ. I think I heard that some older glass wont autofocus properly or might have weird aperture issues on the Z8. Not 100% sure, but I recall someone saying the screw-drive stuff is a no-go for AF... basically manual focus only.
• Corner sharpness. Since the Z8 is 45mp, IIRC some of the older wide-angle zooms from the DSLR days tend to get really soft around the edges. Might ruin those architecture shots tbh.
• Third-party mount support. I think some of the non-Nikon lenses might need a dock or console update to even talk to the Z8 correctly without crashing. Its definitely a learning curve with the Z system. Just make sure you check the firmware compatibility before dropping cash. Feel free to ask if you want me to look into a specific mount type for you.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally get why everyone points to the high-end S-line glass, but honestly, dropping two thousand bucks on a lens isnt always the safest bet for everyones wallet. I would suggest being a bit more cautious before committing to those flagship prices.

• You might want to consider the Nikon NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8. Its much more budget-friendly than the 14-24mm and frankly, for most architecture work, you wont even miss that extra width.
• If you are willing to look outside Nikon, the Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 Z is an absolute steal for the price. Just be careful though and make sure to keep your firmware updated so it stays fully compatible with the Z8 complex electronics.
• I'd also suggest looking for used copies of these lenses. Sometimes you can find a mint condition unit for 30 percent off retail if you are patient.
